Training This Week: January 27 to February 2

  • Athabasca Loppet – Athabasca – February 1
  • Tawatinaw Loppet – Tawatinaw – February 2
  • Canadian Birkie – Edmonton Area – February 8/9
  • AWG Dirdrie, AB – Feb 14 to 17
  • AB Cup 6/7and Ole Uffda Loppet – Camrose, AB -Feb 22/23
  • Cookie Race – Kananaskis – Feb 29

Yes, February is just around the corner, and so is the Birkie. The long range forecast looks very promising for this season’s longest classic technique “Classic”. And the snow is quite good out at Birkie land so if you haven’t signed up there certainly is time! A tune up event could be the Athabasca Loppet (skate, I know) or the Tawatinaw Loppet (Classic and skate). The season isn’t over after the Birkie, but The Ole Uffda is coming up, as is the Cookie Race, Lake Louise Loppet, Mooseheart Loppet, and of course the Beat the Blues Boogie. So, lots of fun events still to come.

Very rare this March is the World Cup Finale at Canmore Nordic Centre. It’s not often we get a chance to the see the world’s best compete here in Canada so if you get the chance, please take the opportunity!
