Fortunately, the small amount of fresh snow yesterday has helped the trails. With the solid ice base and very cold temperatures, we have switched to daytime grooming with the skidoo and track-quad for the time being.
As of yesterday’s work:
Capilano: the approximately 2cm of fresh snow skier tracked both skate and classical.
Goldbar: woodcutters and the Hadhirgaan dragged and classical tracks reset. Shallower tracks and ice bottomed tracks in places. The treeline and both sides of the lakes skier tracked with icy patches.
Goldstick: switchbacks, creek-crossing loop connecting into woodcutters dragged and classical tracks set. Shallower tracks and ice bottomed tracks in places.
Southloop: the approximately 2cm of fresh snow skier tracked both skate and classical. Icy areas with ice base under the fresh snow – use caution.
Overall, expect hard track conditions with a solid layer of ice under the fresh snow, with areas of shallow classical tracks with ice/glazed bottoms. Icy patches.
Happy trails from your Edmonton Nordic Grooming Team
