Jan. 16, 2022 Trails/Grooming Report

The conditions were excellent yesterday, for both skate-skiing and classical.  As of last night:

Capilano: groomed for skating.  Existing tracks for classical in place.  Teaching grid ready for use.

Goldbar: the Hadhirgaan (50 Str loop), Lake loops/treeline, Woodcutters groomed for skate and trackset for classical.  Two teaching grids ready for use. Watch for several extra little connector trails to make smaller loops for training/teaching.

Goldstick: the Switchbacks and Switchback loop, Creekcrossing groomed for skate and classical.  A NEW 9 lane teaching grid and warm up area have been packed and groomed in the soccer field.

Southloop: Unfortunately, a vehicle did significant damage to the herringbone hill/steep climb from the first bridge and the flats on top of the hill (deep ruts that went down to ground level bringing up dirt/sand/rocks).  The Team was able to repair the damages and fill in the large ruts, but unfortunately, the sand/debris that was brought up by the 4×4 it remains in the snow on the hill.  The Southloop is groomed for skate and classical, but be aware of “contaminated” snow as a result.

Have a great day on the trails!
Happy trails from your Edmonton Nordic Grooming Team
