Jan. 18, 2022 Trails and Grooming Report

The team was able to get on the trails this morning and commence grooming.  The going is slow as the water penetration into the snow base was significant on all trails, so each trail requires multiple passes in order to break up the frozen snow/ice and then groom and set tracks.  In addition, the high winds left us with a lot of debris on the trails embedded in the fresh snow leading to thinner classical tracks than we would have hoped for.

As of this evening:

Capilano: groomed for skating and classical.  In good shape.

Goldbar:  lake loop, treeline and stadium groomed for classical and skating, with some icy spots and shallow or wandering classical tracks in areas.  Woodcutters groomed for classical and skating but expect some debris especially at the retaining wall hill.  The Hadhirgaan (50 Street Loop) groomed for skating and classical.

The two teaching grids in Goldbar south of the lake have been re-set and are ready for use.

Goldstick: NOT Groomed – NOT recommended.  Icy.

Looking forward to seeing you on the trails. Stay tuned for updates regarding the Goldstick trails in the coming days.
